Scribbler x CoppaFeel!

You heard it here ^^ first, or maybe you didn't... but from today until the 1st of October, 12.5% of sales made from our boob range will be going to CoppaFeel! We're also doing some extra initiatives in some of our stores so pop your head in to your local Scribbler, come and say hello, and see what else you can do to contribute to this amazing cause.

Now, enough about us... We sat down (virtually) with the tit-rrific team at CoppaFeel! HO and asked them some questions about all the wonderful work the charity does and what they represent so that you can see why we selected this charity to work with. Read the inspirational story below.

1. Why was CoppaFeel! created?

CoppaFeel! was founded in 2009 by Kristin Hallenga and her twin sister Maren after Kris was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer at the age of 23. After finding a lump at 22, and eventually visiting her doctor 3 times, Kris was told the news that she had incurable breast cancer. Kris was unaware that breast cancer could affect people in their twenties and knew very little about the disease. It struck her that there was very little information out there for young people, educating them about the disease, how they could be looking after themselves and informing them that breast cancer doesn’t just affect women over 50. And so, the idea for CoppaFeel! was born.

Kris celebrated her 12th Cancerversary this year. Although Kris will always live with cancer, she wanted to get the message out there to young people that catching cancer early means you have a higher chance of surviving and recovering. She wanted people to learn from her story and become pro-active about their own health.

2. What is CoppaFeel!'s ultimate goal?

Our goal is to give everyone the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer. We want to speak to young people in their natural habitat; whether that’s at a festival, on a uni campus, on their phone on social media, or even in their shower. But wherever young people are, we want to be there; there to talk boobs, pecs and chests, and affect real behaviour change. We talk about a serious message in a light hearted, proactive and empowering way, and encourage people to check regularly.

3. How have you found the CoppaFeel! journey so far?

It’s definitely been a journey! CoppaFeel! began around Kris and Maren’s kitchen table, and now we’re a team of eighteen housed at Boob HQ in South London. It’s been a journey of laughs, boobs on buildings, tonnes of fundraising treks, making headlines, lots of glitter and a lot of glittering turds (as our founder Kris would say).

Even though we’ve grown and learnt a lot in the last 12 years, our mission remains the same, and we continue to shout louder than our size to spread our message far and wide. Really, CoppaFeel! is nothing without our people. This means our trustees, staff, advisory groups, fabulous ambassadors and patrons, our superstar fundraisers, brilliant Boobettes and of course our brand breasties like Scribbler. Our people who keep the boob world spinning, through whatever the world throws at us as a charity.

4. How did your relationship with Scribbler come to be?

Scribbler got in touch with us back in 2020 with an idea. Nearly two years, three campaigns and countless cards later, Scribbler has been supporting us in spreading our message of the importance of getting to know yourself and checking regularly. From a brand we’d long admired for their cheeky cards and sense of humour, to have Scribbler support us on Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Mother’s Day and so much more has been a dream come true.

5. Why do you think CoppaFeel! and Scribbler are a good match?

The partnership between CoppaFeel! and Scribbler just makes sense. Like us, Scribbler isn't shy of a cheeky pun, and our shared love of light-hearted humour with heart behind it means that we’re a perfect match.

We champion checking your chest all year round, and thanks to Scribbler's seasonal campaigns, we can make sure that we’re letting people know about our life-saving message at key moments, as well as spreading important boob love to everyone who visits a Scribbler store.

6. What do you think of the selection of cards and gifts that have been selected for the instore and online CoppaFeel! promotion?

We are obsessed with Scribbler's new boob range. We loved seeing old favourites like the ‘You’re the tits’ card from previous years make a glorious comeback, and being expanded into new gifting products too. From boob lollies to soap to socks, there’s really something for everyone. Why not go the whole hog and wrap it up in boob wrap? Scribbler really is making our dreams come true.

To be able to be supported with such brilliant products means not only are we putting boobs on shelves and therefore on more people’s minds, you can make a purchase and 12.5% of the sale price goes to support our work; every single person who does this is a chest-champ in our eyes.

7. Out of this selection, which products are your favourite and why?

Jenna, our Partnerships Manager and chief guardian of the Scribbler partnership, can’t wait to get her hands on the boob stress balls -  in the lead up to our busiest time of year, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she thinks it might just come in handy!

Lucy, our Head of Partnerships, as a born and bred Yorkshire-woman, thinks the PG Tits mug is right up her street, and is hoping to receive some of the cards for her September birthday.

8. How have you found raising money and awareness throughout the pandemic?

It’s no secret that the pandemic has been difficult for so many charities out there, and we are no different. Our income and activities were heavily impacted by the pandemic; our income was reduced by 50% and 90% of our projects were affected by COVID-19 restrictions; with 40% cancelled altogether.

What’s more, our annual research found that a fifth of young women would be scared to visit their GP about a concerning change to their chest due to the fear of catching coronavirus. We want to let every young person know that the NHS services are open, safe and there for them if they experience any concerning changes to their chest.

After many postponed treks, virtual talks, online events and Zoom problems later, we are looking forward to finding ways to be back to our old ways again. We won’t stop until chest-checking is on everyone’s agenda.

9. How can people get involved in your charity aside from purchasing one of our CoppaFeel! selection products?

There’s so many ways! Visit this page of our website to fundraise for us, order materials to your school, college or place of work to spread the word, book one of our brilliant Boobettes to come deliver an inspirational and informative talk about our message, or just give us a follow; @coppafeelpeople.

10. Are there any tools you'd recommend to spread the charity's message further?
