Who Said Notebooks Had To Be Boring?

Have you seen our new notebook and diaries stationery range that has just launched in all our stores? We’re so pleased to showcase our new designs, which are oozing with colour, humour and a little bit of cuteness.

To tell you a little bit more about the designs, we’ve asked our in-house design team a few questions about the concepts behind the new range.

How many new notebooks and diaries have you designed for this launch?

We’ve designed another 15 notebooks, diaries and magnetic notepads, to add to our popular existing range. We wanted to broaden not just the designs, but also the different types of paper and style of notebooks as well. So you’ll see that some are hard back and some are journals. We’ve also added some belly bands to a few designs, which are the elasticated bands that keep the books lovely and neat. The diaries are completely new and a first for Scribbler to offer in store, so it’s really exciting to see those available.

How did you come up with the designs?

We looked at what’s popular right now, in terms of colours, textures and typography. We’re scribbler, so we love colour and couldn’t hide away from that, which you’ll see in the bright yellow notebook with a cute dog on the front. Yet we also wanted to bring a bit of humour to the collection, so we thought of a few rude and funny lines that would lend themselves well to our notebooks and diaries. We wanted to create something similar to the content on our cards as we know that’s what our customers enjoy.

How do these differ from your previous notebook collection?

Firstly this is our first launch of diaries! We’ve never designed diaries before, so we wanted to make sure we could offer our customers these in time for the new year of 2017, so these had to be ready in time. We have also introduced some foiling onto the front of some of these designs, which we have recently been designing on our cards as well. We particularly love the gold foil against a bold design, such as the pink notebook available in our new range.

We also added to our magnetic not pads, which we call to do lists. They are so handy to have on your fridge and note down all the crap (we mean notes), that you need to be reminded about.

What is your favourite notebook?

I personally love the polka dots notebook. It’s bright, fun and reminds me of summer.

..and favourite diary?

I love the marble diary. It’s so contemporary and actually makes me want to get out my diary and show people. I love the gold foiling used on the front, I think it makes it look classy, even if it does have a few swear words in the title.

Cats and dogs on a notebook? Isn’t that so last year?

We took inspiration from a lot of bestselling cards and we recognised that a huge amount had cats and dogs on the front, so we thought why not. Who doesn’t love a cute dog?

Who knows, this time next year we might be printing Dalmatians on everything!

What designs do you think will be on notebooks next?

We’re never going to avoid colour, so be sure to expect more of it. We also like exploring different textures, so perhaps we’ll explore what trends fashion has to offer and see how we can adapt those to print design.

We're super excited about our new range, which is available in all stores across the UK. For your nearest store, head over to our store locator page here.
