This year our Kings Road store are participating in the Chelsea in Bloom flower festival that takes place annually in the area. Chelsea's alternative floral art show is back and every shop nearby will be creating their own breathtaking flowery shop fronts and Scribbler is no different.
This year’s Chelsea in Bloom theme is ‘Under the Sea’. This inspirational scene provides a vast wealth of inspiration which highlights the devastating impact human activities are having on our oceans and our need to conserve this magnificent habitat. This years Chelsea in Bloom will raise awareness and funds for Plastic Oceans UK, who want to eliminate plastic pollution.
As of 2019, Scribbler have gone greener and are eliminating plastic and switching to fully recyclable cellophane bags for all of our own brand cards, which is why we absolutely love the theme this year.
Unlike many stores in the area, Scribbler hasn't a fancy florist. Instead, we’ve left it down to our very talented team who have created and assembled their whole display, sourcing flowers from local garden centres and flower markets as well as using items they’ve found on the beach during their jolly holidays. Their goal is to recreate a magical underwater theme and show how beautiful the seafloor is and reflect on the loss caused by human interaction, such as the use of fishing nets.
Each year participants go head to head for Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Awards in 'Best Floral Display', 'Highly Commended' and 'Innovation Award', which are all awarded by RHS judges. If that wasn't enough, there's also a vote for 'People's Champion' which is decided by you! You can vote on the Chelsea in Bloom website when voting opens on the 21st May - so make sure to vote for us, cuz we're obv to be the best!
So, check out the Kings Road store from the 20th to the 25th May.
Update: I'm very pleased to announce... we were awarded bronze by the RHS judging panel! Very well done to the King Road store staff!
There's still plenty of time to vote for the Kings Road store for the People's Champion Award, it'd be lovely to get the double!
